  • About
The Royal Gala is pinkish red with some green or yellow-green vertical striping and is considered a dessert apple. The Royal Gala is a small variety that is very hardy and is fairly resistant to bruising. It is a thin-skinned cultivar with soft flesh, making it very easy to bite into. It possesses a grainy textured flesh, a mildly sweet flavor, and a delicate perfume. The Royal Gala was developed in 1920 by hybridizing a Golden Delicious and a Kidd’s Orange Red cultivar.
