Bigarade Orange

Alternate name: Seville Orange - Séville

The bigarade or Seville orange is native to South Vietnam and is valued for its essential oils, which are used for perfumes and as flavorings. In particular, it is used in the production of orange liqueurs. The Seville orange is also preferred in the making of marmalade because it contains more natural pectin than the sweet orange. Orange flower water is also derived from its blossoms. The bitter orange is also used in herbal medicine.
