Black Raspberry

Black raspberries are native to the wilds of North America. They are most prevalent in the east and the Gulf States, but can also be found in the west. Due to the popularity of the red raspberry and the abundance of other fruit available, the black raspberry was not domesticated until the 1850s. The black raspberry has never gained the same popularity of the red raspberry, so its commercial production is minor compared to the production of red raspberries and blackberries. They are sometimes crossed with the red raspberry to make the purple raspberry.
