From the Norse dilla meaning “to lull,” dill grows to about the height of 16 to 24 inches (40 to 60 cm) with slender stems and delicate leaves between 4 and 8 inches (10 and 20 cm) long. Dill is native to Eastern Europe, but is cultivated in northern and southern climates alike.
