Red Snapper

The red snapper is a reef fish that is native to the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts of the Americas and the Gulf of Mexico, and is part of the snapper family (mangrove, mutton, and dog).

Snappers have sloping profiles, spiny fins, and sharp teeth. They are considered a rock fish due to their preference to inhabit rocky bottoms, ledges, and reefs.

Red snappers, as their name indicates, have pink- to red-colored skin, with white, translucent flesh. They get their color from the presence of carotenoids due to the large amount of shrimp that make up their diet.
