Patagonian Toothfish

The habitat of the Patagonian toothfish is the waters of the Southern Atlantic, Southern Pacific, Indian, and Southern Oceans between depths of 0.2 mile to 2.2 miles (45 to 3,580 meters). Weighing an average of 20 to 22 pounds (9 to 10 kg), a large adult can exceed 441 pounds (200 kg). They will reach a length of up to 7.5 feet (2.3 meters) and can live up to 50 years. The Patagonian toothfish feeds mostly on squid, fish, and prawns and factors largely in the diets of sperm whales, Southern elephant seals, and colossal squid.
