Yellowfin

Scientific name: Thunnus albacares
The yellowfin tuna is found in tropical and subtropical waters all over the world. It is an epipelagic fish, meaning it lives in the top 650 feet (198 meters) of the ocean. The yellowfin gets its name because its second dorsal fin and anal fin are both bright yellow. Its body is a dark metallic blue.
The yellowfin doesn’t necessarily school with its own fish and has been known to school with other fish of the same size, especially different species of tuna and some larger fish—they are often seen with dolphins, porpoises, whales, and whale sharks. The size and length of the yellowfin can vary, but some have been recorded as being as long as 94 inches (2.4 meters) and 440 pounds (200 kg).
