Northern Bluefin

The Northern bluefin, or giant bluefin, is native to the western and eastern parts of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Although it is not native to the Pacific Ocean, the Northern bluefin is now commercially cultivated off the coast of Japan. The Northern bluefin has a robust body and conical head with a large mouth. They are dark blue on their topside and gray on their underside, and can be easily distinguished from other members of the tuna family by their short pectoral fins.
