Flower Crab

The flower crab, also called the blue crab, blue swimmer crab, blue manna crab, or sand crab, is a large crab found in the intertidal estuaries of the Asian coasts of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and the Middle-Eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The flower crab is mainly used in eastern Africa, Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

Though its meat is considered almost as sweet as the meat of the blue crab, the flower crab is quite a bit larger, with a carapace reaching up to about 8 inches (20 cm) in width. The flower crab mostly stays buried under sand or mud, particularly during the daytime and in the winter.
