A cappuccino is properly made with a very strong cup of espresso and 125 ml / 4 fl oz of frothed milk. It is served in a standard 175 ml / 6 fl oz coffee cup. The froth should stand proud of the rim and have a white centre surrounded by a discernible ring of brown coffee cream.

To get the best results when frothing milk, always use low-fat milk. As a general rule, the lower the fat content the thicker the froth, but with technical improvements in frothing attachments (vapore) this is no longer as significant as it used to be.
