Blend 2 tbsp cocoa powder or 1 tbsp instant coffee with 2 tbsp icing sugar and 3 tbsp boiling water. Cool, then stir into the chilled custard. Alternatively, melt the chocolate or coffee in the milk when preparing the custard.
