Appears in

  • About

  1. Not all flowers are edible—some are poisonous.
  2. Eat only those flowers that you can positively identify as safe and edible.
  3. Eat only edible flowers that have been grown organically.
  4. When eating out, do not eat flowers on your plate unless you are sure they are edible and safe to eat. (See Commandments 2 and 3.)
  5. Do not eat flowers from florists, nurseries, or garden centers. (See Commandment 3.)
  6. Remove pistils and stamens from most flowers before eating. Eat only the petals of most flowers.
  7. If you have hay fever, asthma, or allergies, do not eat flowers.
  8. Do not eat flowers picked from the side of the road. (See Commandment 3.)
  9. You don’t have to like all edible flowers. Flowers may vary in taste when grown in different locations. Different varieties of the same flower may vary in taste.
  10. Introduce flowers into your diet the way you would new foods to a baby—one at a time and in small quantities.
