Also called “brewer’s yeast,” these bright yellow dried flakes are made from deactivated yeast, and are rich in B complex vitamins. Most folks know nutritional yeast as a salt-free sprinkle for popcorn. The buttery, cheesy flavor also enhances soups made with chicken broth and breads that can use extra richness, such as the Pilot Biscuits. You’ll find nutritional yeast in bulk in health food stores, grocery stores, and online.
