  • About
The roots of today’s amusement parks date back to the 1500s, when so-called pleasure gardens began opening on the outskirts of major European cities. In addition to primitive rides, these gardens featured shows, fireworks, and numerous concession stands selling food and novelties. While there is little written about the food that the pleasure gardens served, most likely it was simple to store and to prepare and easy for customers to consume while walking around enjoying the other attractions. These traits continue to guide amusement park food choices to this day.
