  • About
Arthur Cores and Steven Kolow opened the first Boston Chicken restaurant in 1985 in Newton, Massachusetts, specializing in rotisserie chicken and a selection of side dishes in a cafeteria setting. The company was sold to George Naddaff in 1989, and during the next four years he opened thirty-five new locations in the Northeast. In 1995, Boston Chicken’s menu was expanded to include turkey, ham, and meatloaf, and the name was changed to Boston Market. The chain grew rapidly during the mid-1990s, with an advertising campaign that promoted their take-home meals as a way of bringing back family dinner in a busy household. Branded Boston Market foods are sold in supermarkets across the United States. In 200lMcDonald’s Corporation purchased the chain. Outlets were upgraded and a new format, the Rotisserie Grill restaurant, was launched in 2003. Four years later, the chain was sold to Sun Capital Partners Inc., headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, a private-equity firm, in 2007. At that time Boston Market had 530 outlets in thirty-two states. Boston Market also has a few outlets in Canada and Australia.
