  • About
William A. Breyer began selling ice cream in Philadelphia in 1866 and opened a retail ice cream store in 1882. After his death, his wife and sons incorporated and expanded the business, opening a manufacturing plant in 1896. The company’s logo is a sweetbrier leaf. The Breyer Ice Cream Company became a division of the National Dairy Products Corporation in 1926. The company was acquired by Kraft, and then in 1996, Unilever, which combined it with the Gold Bond–Good Humor Ice Cream Company. In 1993, the company was renamed Good Humor–Breyers Ice Cream Company. Breyers is one of America’s most consumed ice creams.
