It is important to note that animal clones differ from genetically engineered animals. Genetically engineered animals are those that have been genetically altered to do something unusual, like grow human organs. Cloning is different from genetic modification in that it replicates rather than alters an animal’s exact genetic code. Cloning can, however, aid in reproducing genetically engineered animals by providing a (relatively) easy way of “copying” animals that have been genetically engineered.
