  • About
Dairy constitutes a large category of fresh and frozen foods that includes milk, butter, buttermilk, cream, sour cream, cheese, ice cream, milk sherbet, and yogurt. Americans consume on average over five hundred pounds of these products a year, the largest food group by weight in the nation’s diet. Consumption may be in the form of such all-American dishes as apple pie á la mode, cheeseburgers, bagels with cream cheese, pizza, American cheddar cheese, milkshakes, baked Alaska, macaroni and cheese, cheesecake, and ice cream sandwiches, sundaes, and cones.
