Migratory Species: Woodcock

The indigenous American woodcock (Scolopax minor) is related to seven Old World species. Unlike most other game birds, its primary food is earthworms, so it is most often found in dense brushy and moist areas. They are midway between grouse and quail in size, and they have dark, rich, flesh.
