  • About
Globalization, a notoriously contested term, refers here to the ever-extending connections among various parts of the world and the flows that pass through those connections and link different areas. The links and flows can be economic, the usual referent, but they may also be social and cultural. Globalization is not new, probably dating at least back to the sixteenth century, but recently the process has accelerated, becoming more extensive and more intensive. It has become more extensive by encompassing more of the world and more intensive by reaching more deeply into those places and transforming their economies, societies, and cultures.
