  • About

The hamburger is the single most popular food item consumed in the United States, with Americans eating billions of them each year. Originally known as the hamburger sandwich, hamburgers commonly consist of a flattened patty of ground beef placed between two halves of a white flour bun. To enhance the flavor, hamburger eaters routinely adorn their grilled or fried ground beef patties with a variety of possible cheeses, vegetables, and sauces, creating a seemingly endless combination of tastes. French-fried potatoes and carbonated soft drinks traditionally accompany the burger, creating America’s favorite fast-food meal. In fact, this burger-and-fries feast is viewed worldwide as American food.
