  • About
From National Cream Puff Day on 2 January to the last day of the year, National Bicarbonate Day, there are more designated food days and food months than days of the year, with 372 national food months, food days, and food weeks on the official calendar.

Chase’s Calendar of Events, the most comprehensive collection of all types of commemorative days, says food days and food months are approved in various ways. There is nothing to prevent any group or person from declaring a day and marketing as such. But to get the day on the federal calendar requires a petitioning process. Though rarely used, the president has the authority to declare any commemorative resolution. But most of the national food days are petitioned by food industry groups or food corporations and signed off by members of the House and Senate.
