  • About
Entered into on 17 December 1992, the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, is a multilateral agreement among the United States, Canada, and Mexico to eliminate barriers to trade, to facilitate cross-border movement of goods and services, and to promote conditions of fair competition in the free trade area. Where food and agriculture are concerned, critics have claimed that Red NAFTA’s free trade provisions present potential risks to the safety of the United States’ food supply and significant threats to the existence of America’s small farms and small food-producers.
