Early Scottish settlers cooked large kettles of soup over the fire for a nourishing meal, and these were usually made with vegetables, meats, poultry, and fish. Traditional soups include Scotch Broth; with lamb, vegetables, and barley, and Cock-a-Leekie soup made with chicken, leeks, and pearl barley. Mulligatawny Split Pea, Beef Stew, and Fish Chowder are also common.
