  • About
The process of extruding was invented by accident during 1930s. The first popular extruded snack was Cheetos®, which were invented in the late 1940s by the Frito Company and were marketed by Herman Lay in 1948. Similar products were manufactured by other companies. By the beginning of the twenty-first century, Cheetos dominated the puffed snack market with sales twice as much as all the other top fifteen sales combined.
