  • About
The most popular social media activity is Facebook, a social networking site frequented by 10 percent of the world’s population as of January 2011. Facebook launched as a college-student-only social site in February 2004 and opened to everyone over the age of thirteen in September 2006. Facebook allows individual and group users to create online profiles that are used to “connect and share” information with friends, colleagues, and clients. Users “friend” other people, “like” food topic pages, and join groups to keep up to date on a continual wall of shared public information. In only five years Facebook has become an integral part of American social, cultural, and commercial life.
