A bundle of aromatics generally composed of fresh thyme, parsley stalks, bay leaves and lemon zest, as well as other flavourings that may compliment a particular dish; traditionally, a bouquet garni often included celery stalk. The contents are wrapped in muslin cloth and tied with twine or simply tied up.
