The “bowl” method, shown above, is a good way for beginners to make pasta because the flour is added little by little to the wet ingredients in a bowl, preventing the common error of overly dry dough. The sifted flour is mixed with a fork or other utensil, a little at a time, into the wet ingredients until a rough dough is formed. Then the dough is scraped out onto a work surface and kneaded, as described above.
