  • About

This has been known for nearly 100 years as Worcestershire sauce — Its manufacture is not confined now to one firm but Lea & Perrin are the original makers. The story is that it was given to the founder of the firm as an unconsidered trifle by the second Baron Sandys of Worcestershire, who picked it up when he was in India. Its possibilities were not realized until 1838 when its owners began to make it on a large scale and the business developed so tremendously that Mr. Lea, the head of the firm, died a millionaire.
