  • About

Mrs. Osmonde says it was made as above but sweetened with honey and flavoured with cinnamon. ‘It was eaten during the twelve days at Christmas (December 25th to January 5th); some was placed in a plate outside the door at night for the “Pharisees” (fairies). This custom’ she adds ‘seems to me to show that frumenty was made and eaten before England became Christian.’
