Lightly toasting nuts and seeds before using in a recipe is always recommended; it brings out the flavor of both. Add nuts or seeds to a small dry skillet over medium heat and cook, stirring regularly, until they are lightly golden. A good timing guide is that when you smell their fragrance, they are done. Immediately transfer to a plate to cool. Store tightly covered for up to 2 weeks.
