Five-Spice Powder

A finely ground golden brown powder made up of five or six spices including star anise, cinnamon, fennel, cloves, and Sichuan peppercorns. Used in marinades, it must be used sparingly, otherwise it will impart an unpleasant taste to the main ingredient.
