Turn food in a container upside down. Usually applies to jellied foods and cakes. To do this without having the food fall out, place the serving dish over the top of the filled container, then, holding the two tightly together, turn them over, letting the contents drop out onto the serving plate. If food does not drop out, lift up an edge of the pan and insert a knife between the contents and the container to let the air into the container and to break the suction. If this does not work, turn plate and container right side up, remove plate, and again dip container in warm water if it contains jellied food. Repeat process and the food will drop out Do not lift an inverted container from a plate; the contents might, at the moment of lifting, decide to let go of the container. Always turn plate and container together.
