  • About
The four main varieties available here are thinnish skinned, green, relatively large Ettinger, Fuerte and Nabal, and the small, rough-skinned, dark purple Hass, which has the nuttiest, most buttery flavour. Nabal and Ettinger can be bland and watery. The main crop of Israeli Hass are available here from January to May, followed by American imports. Excellent Israeli Fuerte are around from November to March. With imports from Kenya, the Americas and elsewhere, avocados are readily available all year round, but many of these are disappointing. The tiny, unseeded cocktail avocados can be eaten whole, skin and all, or peeled and cut up in a salad.
