Belimbing Wuluh

Averrhoa bilimbi This plant used to grow in all parts of Java, and was often used instead of tamarind to give sourness in cooking. Where belimbing wuluh are specified by recipes in this book, I have suggested using rhubarb as an alternative. Even in Indonesia, and especially in big cities and towns, belimbing wuluh has now become a rarity.
