  • About

This sweet soy sauce is used in a lot of Indonesian and Malaysian cooking. It is thick and syrupy, with an almost treacle-like flavour. It is extremely versatile and can be used to flavour rice, stir-fries, marinades and so on. You can find kecap manis in many supermarkets, sometimes labelled as sweet soy sauce. If you are having trouble finding it, there’s a recipe for making your own Kecap manis.
