This is one of the main islands, but it is remote and tropical. Due to the climate and abundant produce, this area has a very specific food culture. Dishes of note are Okinawa soba noodle (pork belly and noodles) and chanpuru (Okinawa-style stir-fry, often cooked with bitter melon).
