Consisting of various types of granulated fish and vegetable extracts, furikake are popular sprinkled on hot boiled rice. They are also used for making onigiri (rice balls), either mixed with rice or used as a stuffing. Various sprinkles in packets or jars are available from Japanese supermarkets.
