(plural) From Sepharad, Spain in Hebrew. Jews and their descendants, expelled at the end of the fifteenth century from Spain and Portugal, who settled in Greece, the Middle East, England, Holland, the Americas, and parts of western Europe. The term is often used to refer to all Jews not of Ashkenazi background.
