Despite its name, buckwheat is not a variety of wheat at all, but the grain-like seed of a plant related to rhubarb and sorrel. It is completely gluten free, so ideal for people who are sensitive to gluten. It has a slightly nutty flavour and is rich in nutrients, fibre and protein.
