It’s quite common in recipes involving dough to finish with an egg wash, so be prepared to have an egg handy. Not only does an egg wash ensure even browning of the dough, but it also produces a beautiful sheen. To make the wash, simply whisk an egg! You can add a tablespoon of water if you like, or not. Use a pastry brush to apply.
