Daikon, also known as white radish, is a member of the radish family and the white-coloured root is especially large and succulent during winter. Although the leaves are edible, they turn yellow quite easily and are often removed when daikon is sold in stores. Daikon is known to aid digestion and promote respiratory health. It is widely used in Japanese cuisine.
