  • About

Known also as carambola, star fruit is a pale green to soft yellow oval fruit with well-incised ridges. The fruit of a small tree,Averrhoa carambola, that is native to southeast Asia, it is called star fruit because when it’s sliced crosswise, the slices are an attractive star shape. The skin is edible (though sometimes the edges of the “wings,” the tips of the stars, can be tough and need to be trimmed off). The flesh is firm and a little crisp, with a tart-sweet taste.
