  • About
  1. Fill the glass no more than one-third full, or to where the bowl starts to fill out. If you fill the glass any more, you risk spilling the wine when you swirl it.

  2. Take the glass by the stem or by the base. This allows you to tilt the glass when looking at it, and to swirl the glass. If you prefer to swirl on a flat surface, hold at the base.

  3. Swirl the glass gently in a circular motion release the aromatic compounds in the wine. Take care not to swirl it so it spills over the rim. You can place the glass on a firm surface for extra stability, or swirl in the air.

  4. Tilt the glass towards you and place your nose inside the bowl. Your nose should not touch the wine. Take one deep sniff and remove your nose from the glass to consider the aromas. Alternatively, take 3 or 4 short sniffs.
