I can’t rave more about homemade stock – it’s a great thrifty way to get rid of leftover bones and vegetables, and adds a whole heap of flavour to your soups and stews. Using homemade stocks also massively reduces the amount of salt going into your food and you’ll never have to worry about it containing wheat or gluten. You can tub up your stock, cool it down and freeze until you need it. In all the recipes, we have included measurements for using stock cubes as well as we totally get that not everyone wants to make stock or maybe you just don’t have the ingredients to make them at the time.
