One of the distinguishing characteristics of parsi food is the touch of sweetness in many savory dishes. Sometimes the sweetness comes from aromatic spices like cinnamon or cardamom, at other times from the addition of sugar. Parsi households always have three kinds of sweetener, white sugar, jaggery, and honey, the last used more as a medicine than as a food for pleasure.
