Iron is needed to form haemoglobin which carries oxygen in the blood. Good sources are dried fruit, legumes, sesame seeds, turnips and cabbages. (Absorption of iron is increased by vitamin C.) Zinc is important for growth and for the synthesis of proteins. Also for wound healing and for maintaining hair, skin and nails. Good sources are eggs, milk, cheese, whole grains and legumes.
