  • About

Fig

Available in summer and autumn, figs can be green or purple in colour and bought fresh, dried or canned. Fresh fruits should be evenly coloured and yield evenly under gentle pressure. Ripe figs are delicious eaten on their own, with yoghurt or cream; unripe figs can be stewed, used in cakes, jams and pickles. Peel before use.
  • Low-fat. High in fibre and carotene.
