Lablab beans

A legume of Asian origin, it is most popular in India and Malaysia where it has the same uses as split pulses (see Pea and Lentil, below) though the raw seeds can cause poisoning. The seeds can be white, reddish, black or mottled.

  • Low-fat. High in carbohydrate, fibre, phosphorus, iron and vitamin B1.
