Cloves

Cloves are native to Indonesia, hence the prevalence of the famous kretek cigarettes made from cloves. While I avoid second-hand cigarette smoke, I do not mind inhaling the intoxicatingly sensuous whiff of the kretek, thought to be more harmful than the average cigarette. Indeed, I once had an Indonesian maid who used to smoke kretek like a chimney and I can still recall vividly how she would puff away as she hung clothes on the line to dry. Cloves are also used in a special oil for body massages and to relieve aches and pains.
